‘Cinema Donkey’ to be in contention at Bengaluru Int’l Filmfest

‘Cinema Donkey’ is to compete at the Bengaluru Int'l Film Festival in India.

Iranian feature comedy ‘Cinema Donkey’ is to compete at the Bengaluru International Film Festival (BIFFES) in India.   

Written and directed by Iranian director Shahed Ahmadlou, ‘Cinema Donkey’ has been selected as the opening film of the 12th edition of the Indian film event.   

The flick will be in the running at the festival's Asian Cinema Competition section with the film's director and producer Ali Yavar to attend the event as guests.   

‘Cinema Donkey’ is a dark comedy that shows the untold truth behind connections in the world of filmmaking.

It narrates the story of a film crew who are working on a film project. They need a donkey for some of the scenes. Failing to find one, they settle for a donkey wandering in the woods.

‘Cinema Donkey’ had already attended the 72nd Cannes Film Market – Marché du Film as well as the 24th Busan International Film Festival in South Korea where it won nom to receive the Kim Ji-seok award.

Ahmadlou, the director of the flick, has already had some of his works such as ‘The Honeymoon’ and ‘The Special Unit’ aired by ifilm. He also appeared in ‘Freedom’ as an actor.

The son of late Iranian actor Khosro Shakibaee, Pouriya Shakibaee, is among the cast members of the flick.

The 12th Bengaluru International Film Festival will be held in the capital of the Indian state of Karnataka on February 26 - March 04, 2020.
